Timber Sales

The slabs we currently have available are the result of years of careful preparation. And every week we have new pieces finishing their prep journey and finally ready for sale.

So, the stock for sale in our Timber Sales room is different all the time.

If you have a particular timber you are after, or a particular sized slab you need, or if you would prefer a natural edge or finished edge, contact the guys At the Woodshop to see what they currently have available. Choose the timber that suits your style and décor

In our Timber Sales room, on-site here in Ulmarra, you will find a wide selection of softwood and hardwood, native and non-native timber to choose from. Each piece has been milled locally, air-dried on-site and then kiln-dried.

Although there is never a guarantee on what types of wood are available at any one time, the quality and attention to detail in its preparation is second to none.

If you can’t make it to Ulmarra, we are happy to provide photos or videos of the timber currently for sale, which will suit your purpose. There are many different species and colours available to suit your style and décor.

Sustainably sourced timber

All the timber we sell is sourced responsibly, and you can be assured that we never cut down a tree with leaves on it. Wherever we can, we salvage logs and buy logs from trees which have been subject to eradication programs or standing dead trees which had to be felled. We do the felling ourselves, or we work with contractors who provide sustainably sourced raw product.

We mill these trees into slabs, which are then airdried on-site At the Wood Shop, here in Ulmarra for at least a couple of years. When this natural drying is complete, we finish the process locally by kiln-drying each slab.

So, the timber we have on-site in Ulmarra has been prepared for years and is ready for whatever use you need.

Burls

As well as a wide variety of Softwoods and Hardwoods, native and non-native timber, we also specialise in burls.

What is a Burl? Formed on tree roots, trunks and branches as a result of an abnormal or accidental development burls are beautiful mistakes! Usually round, they are twisted compact bits of wood with wild patterns and grain textures unlike the normal swirls you see in other timber. Prized by woodturners, they make amazing one-off timber products. No two burls are the same and their patterns can produce truly different and unique furniture or wood-turned products.
